Adoption An adoption replaces the biological parents of a child with adoptive legal parent(s). This may be instituted as a onestep procedure by joining the termination and adoption causes of action or by a twostep procedure in which a separate adoption lawsuit follows a termination. An adoption will usually be more complicated and cost more if one of the biological parents opposes the adoption or does not agree to relinquish his/her parental rights. There is a court filing fee of approximately $650 and a process fee of $100. Modification The court filing fee for a petition to modify a divorce decree or court order is approximately $35 with a process fee of approximately $100. SAPCR There is a court filing fee of approximatley $200 and a process fee of $100 to file a SAPCR and have the petition served.
